OpenWhy KYC is required
KYC (Know Your Customer) is mandatory for any account that holds a wallet balance on a regulated platform in India. The Dream11 App runs KYC through a regulated partner. The verification protects the platform from money laundering, tax evasion and identity theft, and it protects the user from fraudulent withdrawals.
Anti-money laundering
The Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) requires regulated platforms to verify the identity of every user before processing any withdrawal.
Tax compliance
Winnings above ₹10,000 per contest attract TDS (tax deducted at source). PAN is required to deduct and report TDS correctly.
Identity protection
KYC prevents a stolen mobile or email from being used to withdraw wallet balance. The KYC document set must match the profile name and date of birth.
Withdrawal enablement
Withdrawals are blocked until KYC is complete and verified. Practice contests and small-league paid contests can be entered before KYC.
Documents required for KYC
Two KYC paths are supported: PAN + Aadhaar (digital KYC through the regulated partner) or PAN + bank account (account-based verification). The PAN is mandatory in both paths. Choose the path that matches your document set.
PAN card (mandatory)
PAN (Permanent Account Number) issued by the Income Tax Department. The PAN number is required for TDS reporting on winnings above ₹10,000.
Aadhaar (path A)
Aadhaar issued by UIDAI. Used for digital KYC through the regulated partner. The Aadhaar number is verified through the OTP sent to the registered mobile.
Bank account (path B)
A bank account in your name. The IFSC and account number are verified through a small penny-drop credit. The bank account is also the withdrawal destination.
Address proof (if requested)
In some cases, the regulated partner may request address proof (Aadhaar, passport, driving license, utility bill). Upload a clear scan or photo.
The KYC verification process
KYC verification runs through a regulated partner. The process is usually instant for digital KYC (PAN + Aadhaar) and takes 24-48 hours for manual review (PAN + bank account). You can monitor the status from Settings → KYC.
Step 1 — enter PAN
Enter the 10-character PAN number. The platform validates the format and checks the PAN database for a name match.
Step 2 — choose KYC path
PAN + Aadhaar (digital, instant) or PAN + bank account (manual, 24-48 hours). Both paths are equally valid.
Step 3 — submit documents
PAN + Aadhaar: enter Aadhaar number, receive OTP, complete digital verification. PAN + bank: enter IFSC + account number, wait for penny-drop credit, confirm the amount.
Step 4 — wait for verification
Digital KYC: instant. Manual KYC: 24-48 hours. The status is shown in Settings → KYC. Withdrawals are enabled automatically once verification completes.
Account settings and preferences
Beyond KYC, the Dream11 App account has a small set of preferences that improve usability and security. Configure these before your first contest.
Display name and avatar
Set a display name and an optional avatar. The display name is shown in the contest lobby. Other users do not see your real name.
State setting
Set your state. The state is used for state-wise legality checks (some states restrict paid contests).
Notification preferences
Choose the notifications you want: contest start, lock reminder, score updates, withdrawal confirmation. Default is all-on.
Language preference
The Dream11 App supports English and Hindi. Set your preferred language. The interface language follows your system language on mobile.
Account security best practices
A few best practices dramatically reduce the risk of account compromise. Each one is cheap to apply; each one prevents a common attack pattern.
Enable 2FA
Settings → Security → Two-factor authentication. The next login will require both password and OTP.
Use a unique, strong password
Do not reuse passwords across sites. A password manager is the cleanest way to manage unique strong passwords.
Do not share your account
The Dream11 App account is for one user. Sharing an account violates the platform’s terms and can trigger a KYC flag.
Monitor withdrawal activity
Settings → Wallet → Audit log. Check this regularly for any withdrawal you did not initiate.
